Description

Yoga in Bruton
Bruton Community Hall

Friday | 10:15 – 11.15 AM

A gentle, yet dynamic yoga class, using fluid movements for the cultivation of inner calm.

Who’s it for?

This practice is for people who enjoy both yoga and qigong or tai chi, or anyone interested in the more energetic/subtle aspect of their practice, whether that be physical or meditation based.

Why do it?

These flowing movements and stances unfold the life-force held within the tissues of the body, so that when āsana (yoga postures) or meditation is practised, one's energy, blood and fluids move freely, bringing greater health and vitality…and because it feels good!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to bring a yoga mat?

Yoga mats are not required for this course, as most of the movements and postures are stances that don't require sitting on the floor. That said, if you like to work on a mat for any reason, please bring one along.

  • Are props provided?

Props are not provided at the venue.

They are not essential for this workshop, but some people may like to bring something to place under their heels if they find squatting positions difficult, such as a towel or blanket that can be folded.

  • What should I wear?

Whatever you're comfortable in and can move freely in will suffice.

  • I'm worried I might hurt myself doing a yoga class, how can I make sure I practice safely?

Always take care to stay within your own personal realm of ability. NEVER push or try to force yourself into a posture as this is when you are most likely to hurt yourself. PLEASE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN BODY. It really isn’t important if you can ‘get into the position’ or not, it’s HOW YOU PRACTICE that counts.

As a rough guide consider this: if you are struggling to breathe properly, you are not practising properly.

  • Can I eat before attending the class?

As with all yoga practice, refrain from eating for at least 1 ½ - 2 hours beforehand, Depending on your digestion, it might be helpful to leave even longer; listen to your body.
